Dual-Practice Baptism at Union Church

In the summer of 2025, after a year-long study by the elders and a vote of affirmation by the congregation, Union Church stepped into dual-practice baptism. In short, that means that Union Church practices both credobaptism (commonly referred to as "believer's baptism") and reformed, covenantal paedobaptism ("infant baptism).

Our doctrinal statement locates us in the mainstream of Reformed theology. We do not minimize our theological beliefs, but neither do we exclude beliefs that belong within the broad flow of Reformation convictions. So Union is home to people of many denominations and church backgrounds who stand together in the gospel.

So, we make room for both infant baptism and child dedication. Presbyterians and others practice infant baptism. Baptists and others practice child dedication. Both are accepted by serious-minded Christians within our theological framework, are respected amongst our community, and supported by our pastors.
